nature

Nature is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. When we develop a new application, we observe how nature has, in the course of evolution, developed a similar solution. For example, the principle of microfluidics can be found in many places, whether in botany to transport fluids from the roots to the leaves of trees or to inject a fluid cement through the rostrum of a tick.

Facilities

Curious by nature, we acquire the most sophisticated instruments to study physical or biological phenomena. In our laboratory, we have a multitude of instruments to measure, observe and evaluate phenomena. Physical measurements of length, temperature, weights, electrical measurements, hardness measurement, complete metallography equipment, observation instruments ranging from binocular magnifying glasses to optical microscopes and up to the Zeiss scanning electron microscope with a magnification power of 800'000x.

2020 Innovation Award

We love challenges and are therefore participating in the Innovation Prize 2020 - 2021 of the Canton of Fribourg.

The topic we presented to the jury is the development of a microfluidic chip for the identification and treatment of bacterial diseases.

Thanks to this microfluidic chip, bacteria can be classified in distinctive categories within a few minutes. The doctor can thus quickly prescribe the appropriate antibiotic treatment, which is particularly important in the case of bacterial encephalitis.

While we currently talk a lot about viruses, bacterial diseases could become a major concern for society in the years to come.

A big step has been taken, we are one of the 3 finalists, the winner will be chosen on May 04, 2021.

Prix de l'innovation 2020

Nous aimons les défis et participons ainsi au Prix à l’innovation 2020 – 2021 du canton Fribourg.

Le sujet que nous avons présenté  au jury est le développement d’un chip microfluidique permettant l’identification et le traitement des maladies bactériennes.

Grâce à ce chip microfluidique les bactéries peuvent être classées en l’espace de quelques minutes dans des catégories distinctives. Le médecin peut ainsi prescrire rapidement le traitement antibiotique adéquat ce qui est particulièrement important en cas d’encéphalite bactérienne.

Si nous parlons actuellement beaucoup de virus, les maladies bactériennes pourraient devenir un sujet de préoccupation majeur pour la société dans les années à venir.

Un grand pas est franchi, nous faisons partie des 3 finalistes, le vainqueur sera désigné le 20 janvier 2021…
